Now that the option blocks for year 9 have been confirmed, I have sent out an introductory email to students who will be taking GCSE Photography next year. This email is designed to 'welcome' them to the course and explain briefly what to expect in their studies. Below is an image of the email I sent to Year 9 welcoming them to Photography.
Following on from this email, I will be setting weekly introductory tasks for the students to get engaged in the learning & in Photography. I have chosen to do a 3 week 'Selfie Project' until the end of term, where the students will engage in different forms of portrait photography that focuses on themselves. In this I have found examples from the internet, artist examples and taken my own photographs to inspire the students. So far, I have put together week 1 on Shadows & week 2 on colour. I have thoroughly enjoyed engaging in the topics myself and participating in photoshoots to inspire the students.
