The first week's activities consist of learning how to use mark making techniques & then apply them to a portrait of Van Gogh.
The second week's activies, includes some literacy activities. The students need to answer 3 questions - What is a portrait? What is a self portrait? Why do we use portraits? as well as write a short paragraph on a portrait of their choice. The students will then need to complete a portrait using the proportions guide given on the PowerPoint.
On the Show My Homework assignment, I have uploaded these activities both as PowerPoint presentations and PDF Documents so that all students can access them.
As part of the week 1 activities, I created a differentiated task with 3 levels of challenge. This meant that the students could choose their level of difficulty based on how they gauge their ability (low ability pupil - higher ability pupil).
To improve this task I could include more explicit resources for the students to use & copy, as the images currently on the slide are quite small therefore making it difficult for them to see. I could include A4 copies for them to view in a more suitable manner.
To provide differentiation on the second week's activities, I provided two links to different youtube videos so that students would be supported fully when drawing a portrait using the correct proportion guidelines.
